My best friend once gave one of my favorite pieces of advice – run towards something, not away from something.
A seemingly simple piece of advice that requires years to earn conviction – what are we each running towards?
For me to understand that, I’ve spent the first 10 years of my career learning from vastly different work environments: from powerful owned & operated giants like Red Ventures, to choose-your-own-adventure start ups like Forbes, to DNA-molding consultancies at Aux.
What remained a common thread across varying industries, businesses, in-office cultures was clear – I love developing others. It brings me so much energy knowing I’ve made an impact on someone’s career, in the same way mentors have done for me.
(One of my favorite lessons has been asking people what they’re good vs. what they like doing – understanding the dissection of empowerment)
